New Around Here
Greetings All,

I'm new to the forum and want to start off by giving praise to Merlin's hardwork and dedication to our Asus routers!

I recently purchased the RT-N66U ver. B1 and it came with stock FW 276. It has been solid for me the last two weeks. I am thinking of flashing one of the SDK5 builds since it is the same driver. From what I read from my trolling, I see the SDK5 builds are best for the N66U at the moment.

I would like to get a poll on which SDK5 build is the best for range, speed, stability, and reliability. I'm looking for the best all-around FW for my N66U (be it the stock 276 or one of Merlin's SDK5 builds).

Any and all comments are welcome!

Thanks :)

Hi,

I would strongly suggest to go for the SDK6: Sie Merlin's recent posting on the new version - with exactly this message!
This is the version which is maintained by Asus and will be the best for the future.

With kind regards
Joe

But we do not know for certain if the 2.4Ghz issues in SDK6 (N66U) are fixed yet AIUI.

All I know is the .38 and 5ghz had problems for me in my environment when activating WPA2. I have an early N66U that required the tweak to the bootloader so as to allow the larger firmware.

Not sure if it is because I have an early N66U or not. I do know despite trying all kinds of things .38 did not work for me for 5ghz. 2.4 ghz was great mind you.

For me on my N66U and my environment 372.30_2 is the best, fastest and most stable. It isn't on the poll.

For me anything after 372 5ghz channel does not work if WPA2 security is enabled.

My vote would be in terms of released versions 372.31.
