New Around Here
Hello everyone,

it's been some days now that I'm using the merlin on a AC66U. Very happy.

So far everything was great, but now I'm facing an annoying problem.

The configuration is:
-> ISP modem/router -> AC66U

Tonight I set up the ISP router disabling the switch mode to make it completely transparent, so that the AC66U would take the ISP WAN IP address.

Did the configuration, rebooted both routers.
Internet works great. The WAN address shown in the ASUS admin page now is the my WAN IP address.

BUT...

whenever I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it takes forever... smth like 3-4 minutes only to display the main page.

I also tried to connect via WAN using the DDNS which I had setup, or using the HTTPS (it shows an AiCloud page) but the speed is the same.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks for your support and please let me know if I need to add any other information.

Ciao
Ale

EDIT:

- I tried both with wireless and wired connection

- while trying to connect to the AC66U with another device, I received the message
Login user IP: 192.168.1.25 (AlesiPhone5)
You cannot log in unless another user logs out first.

This is strange... seems the DHCP is not working properly.
Each device receives the IP from the AC66U, so this should not happen. correct?

I solved the problem disconnecting the USB disk.

On it, there was the download manager application.

Furthermore while browsing on speedtest.net I was informed by chrome about a malware distribution website.

I've also disconnected the VPN from Astrill, but I dont think this was the problem.

Question: is it safe to attach the USB again? could it be infected somehow?

Plug the USB into your computer and do a virus/malware scan on it...
