Problem with registering hostname to Asus router

I've just setup bridged network to pass my pc (Windows 11) network also to AppleTV sitting beside.

Then I need to setup static IP for my PC so that it can continue to use network

However, after this setup, the router didn't take that PC hostname anymore so I cannot use hostname to access other network device to/from that PC. From my research on web, this is because the PC is not sending/requesting DHCP request so the hostname will never push to router.

May I know what is the option for me to use hostname instead of IP to access to/from that PC settings up bridged network?

Thanks

If you are assigning a static IP address to a client it is a good idea to leave room in the DHCP pool for the static address. Otherwise, in most home networks it is best to just use DHCP to assign addresses.
Asus routers will in time gather info for host name to IP. Their network manager can be wonky.

My problem is if it's possible for router to take this PC's hostname if this PC set to use static IP but not using DHCP

So do you mean only using DHCP will reliably register hostname from client PC (Windows) back to router, but no other way? any script can push the DNS record though?

Thanks

There is no guarantee that even using DHCP will do that. But you have a better chance it will work using DHCP and that may take some time. Best to avoid rebooting the router.

Explain in more detail what you mean by "bridged network" and "pass my pc network". You have two separate networks in different locations connected by VPN? TAP or TUN?

You haven't said what model of router you're using for each network or what firmware they're running.
