Problem with router speed when transfering files

Jim C

New Around Here
I have an Asus RT-AC88U running version 314.14_2 firmware. I have noticed that when I transfer files from my PC to my NAS (WD Easystore) through the USB 3 port of the router that the overall speed of the router goes way down. The CPU usage goes up to nearly 100% during the transfer and my streaming devices buffer terribly until the transfer is over. All my devices are wired directly to the router, no WI-FI is used for these devices. I'm wondering if I may have something set wrong in the QoS that is causing this. Can anyone point me in the right direction and help with this issue? Any help would be appreciated very much.

You're seeing exactly what is to be expected. Use a true NAS instead of using the very underpowered router to do this heavy lifting.

Not enough processor power, not enough ram and not enough reserve left over to allow it to be a router. ;)
