I see QNap have just bought a Plus range of products out - faster Atoms, tho they've not updated the 8bay product. Sure, the 809Pro has a fast processor in it, but it also ommits SATA and Jumbo frames. Anyone like to hazzard a guess as to whether they will replace the 809 in the near future?
And what about Netgear? Their ReadyNas pro devices are looking decidedly unsexy; they've released their Ultra range but no refresh of the ReadyNas pro range. THink that will be coming?
I don't like buying a product when I expect it to get replaced soon. Sure, I know in this industry the shelf-life of a product isn't long (Netgear seem to be bucking the trend here somewhat - good for them), but it's annoying when you've just got your new product out the box and then you see an updated model has just been released!
