PS4 NAT issues/Tweaks

I have been doing some quick reading on trying to get UPNP and nat issues resolved on my PS4 with my Asus AC3100RT.

As per this site:
https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-ps4/

These ports need to be set on Port forwarding:
  • TCP: 80, 443, 1935, 3478-3480
  • UDP: 3478-3479
Apparently the UPNP implementation on the PS4 has a bug where it is not activating when it is supposed to. This causes all sorts of multi-player issues and Sony has yet to fix.

I did a quick search on the forums and could not find this information on a cursory search.

Mods, please move as appropriate.

What issues exactly?

That site talks b*llocks. It doesn't understand the difference between incoming and outgoing.

Case in point, those ports come from this. Sony are talking about outgoing connections to their servers, so no port forwarding is necessary.

Says who? I've never experienced a problem with it.

There are many posts about consoles and port forwarding in the Asus forums, but mostly from Xbox owners.

I have had to set my device to using a static IP, and with port forwarding on I get quicker response on testing network. I have been having constant issues off and on with chat sessions relating to nat problems. I doubt that the issue is hardware I added to the network to improve performance.

Part of this might have to do with the bridge mode I had to set my ADSL modem to use and then set the asus router as the gateway and then to the cisco switch I have my whole home network plugged into.

The ISP modem I am forced to use is a piece of junk and a lot of my performance issues disappeared once I switched to using the Asus modem for all routing and network functions.

I have hopes once switching to fiber based internet a lot of these issues might disappear but I could be mistaken...
