I bought a QNAP TS-439U-SP and connected it to my Cisco SLM2048 switch and could not discover the NAS, finally I used a direct link to my pc and it was found and I was able to configure it with the proper IP settings. Once I put it back on the switch it could not be found once again, so to determine the problem I hooked it into the switch on the back of my firewall, and it was discovered no problem, so it appears its a problem with the switch, to test this out I switched the IP settings to DHCP and it was able to pick up an IP from the firewall as well (also my DHCP server).
Whats interesting is the link lights on the switch show a gigabit link, yet if I go into the administation console on the switch, it shows those ports with no connection.
Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? So far I have tried disabling port trunking and using the LAN1 port, enabling jumbo frame support on the switch, and disconnected my firewall when it was on the switch to see if it was creating a problem, I dont really have any other ideas on why this switch will not connect my QNAP NAS, but every other switch will (I also tried an old netgear switch I had laying around).
I really dont want to leave it on my firewall as its only 10/100 and my switch is gigabit.
Thanks!
