QoS not applied to SSL traffic?

V_2

Occasional Visitor
Running Merlin 380.69. Got unexpected results testing against HTTP and HTTPS on dslreports.com/speedtest. Similar results on speedof.me which also allows HTTPS

Have Adaptive QoS set up with following settings:
FQ_CODEL
UL 5.5
DL 60

Custom order:
Highest
VoIP and Instant Messaging
Video and Audio Streaming
Web Surfing
Others
File Transferring
Gaming
Lowest

When running the speed test over HTTPS it appears all QoS settings are bypassed getting 71.2 Mbps down/ 5.8 Mbps up) vs 60.5/5.3 using the HTTP version. During the HTTPS test latency goes very high as expected >500ms and is <60ms when using HTTP.

Did I setup QoS incorrectly? Is this behavior expected and "normal"? Can I make all traffic follow the QoS policy?

It was an ASUS bug in old firmwares.

My script corrects it if you want to remain on your legacy firmware. Another option is to update to a recent firmware and you will see that ASUS has corrected it.

Even though they corrected it, I do not agree with their decision as they route HTTPS traffic into net control <<--- honestly, WHY?!???

I stuck HTTPS into "Web Browsing" with my script

Thanks for replying! Was already considering your script from before but the instructions say (in the part about putty and scp) that 382+ is needed. Compatible version installed without issue on my legacy version and everything looks good even after a reboot. Wonderful work you have done, your efforts are highly appreciated!
