QOS slows down transfers?

More than two years ago, RMerlin wrote on the ASUS forums that "When you enable QoS, the firmware disables a special kernel driver that speeds up transfers (ctf.ko), as they are mutually incompatible."

Is this still the case with the latest firmware and we should expect slower transfers with QOS?

It's still the case. Traditional QoS is not compatible with HW acceleration. You need an RT-AC87U with its new DPI-based Adaptive QoS to be able to use it while retaining HW acceleration.

Asus plans to port this new QoS engine to the RT-AC56U and RT-AC68U in the near future. It won't happen with older routers as this new engine is too CPU-intensive.
