Question about RT-AC87R Adaptive QOS

So I just picked this bad boy up yesterday and I have had no issues other then the QOS. I am running Merlin build 376.47, with that siad my speed test range from 113.70 down and 5.80 up.

Well I went to set up my QOS and I am using the new adaptive mode, I round up so I put in 114 down 6 up. Well manually restarted router and ran a speedtest, well I got 112 down 4 up, not much of a big diffrence but was wondering why.

So after messing around with the router for about an hour, I changed the numbers for my speed test, 116 down 8 up. Did a speed test and I got the the numbers that I am suppose to get 114 to 115 up and 7 to 8 up at times, kinda werid I guess.

I use TW as my ISP and have there Ultimate internet, never had issues with always have a good signal.

So has anyone else had this experince with this router, love this new router great range and like I have said no issues what so ever with this bad boy.

I am on the latest stock Asus firmware and find the Adaptive QOS borked.

What I do is a twice daily reboot to keep it going smooth.

Have you tried using Merlin's FW???? You should try and flash it with his stuff, it's always better then the asus FW.

Yes, I have been a long-time user of Merlin's firmware, but for my new router I am sticking with latest stock.

Merlin cannot do anything with the internal firmware such as the QOS, Trend Micro features etc.

From everything I read on here, QOS on this router is broke. I would not use it at all until it is fixed (if that will ever happen, I don't know). Maybe others can chime in. Doesn't matter if its Merlins or official FW, it's not working as advertised.

Man that sucks that you are having issues, I have been using and have had no random drops or restarts??? I mean when I got it, i started it up and then installed merlin's fw, and did a reset to defaults and started to set it up.

I will be honest I only use the qos features and some other things, but I do not use more then half of all the features this router has.

Well I hope you get it fixed, can you return it??? I got mine from best buy and got the 2 year extended warrinty on it, I always do that cause if a new better router comes out all I do is take it back and say that it bricked on me. From there they give me store creidt, and I get the new one.

good luck man.

Adaptive QoS works really well for me, suprisingly. My cap is 30/5(up the speeds WOW!) set it to 29.5 / 4.9 in the config and it caps perfectly, the few tests i've run are usually queuing a huge amount of usenet data and then attempting to browse/stream/game ect and as of .47 it always gives them priority. Very much looking forward to further tweaks the trend micro "goodies".

Oh, a quick test of the AiProtection feature via malwaredomainlist was also a very strong showing.(please DO NOT go clicking infected links unless you know what you're doing)
