Thank you so much, so I am alright now no need to do Recovery and I can either flash Asuswrt or Asuswrt-Merlin without problem? There was a minimum 386 version required to update forward, but now removed by Asus since another 388 version was made minimum required. For Asuswrt you have to use Recovery for this jump in firmware version. Asuswrt-Merlin perhaps doesn't make minimum required firmware checks before flashing. You have missed years of firmware upgrades...
Thanks for your 1st reply about recovery software, I just finished and flashed it to the lastest Asus firmware. My main Aimesh router is not supported by Merlin so I think I better have this RT-AX58U back to Asus firmware, thanks again.Sorry, no idea what your main router is. Stock Asuswrt - Recovery.
You most likely need to flash to Asus 3.0.0.4_386_45898 prior to the 388 firmware — it was a prerequisite due to a firmware architecture change.I wanted to use a RT-AX58U as a Aimesh node, its firmware is 384, I tried to upgrade its firmware to 388 with Asus firmware, it can't. At the end I used Merlin firmware to upgrade and it suceed. Wondering why? Thanks.
