This is my setup:
I have a ZTE dsl modem-router from my ISP provider. It is locked, so it cannot act as modem only. I have disabled its DHCP server and now acts as gateway.

My R7000 is connected by wire with the ZTE on one of its LAN ports. It has DHCP enabled and acts as my router (operation mode: wireless router). I tried to install on it AB-Solution and i realised that the R7000 cannot connect to internet. It's firmware is the latest xVortex.

Any ideas on how to connect it to internet without changing my setup ?

Given this situation, one approach would be to allow the ZTE to do your routing (turn off the wireless radios on it if there are any), and just use the R7000 in AP mode for your wireless. If you could put the ZTE in transparent bridge mode where it just acted as a cable modem, that would make a clean break in functionality between the ZTE as cable modem and the R7000 in full router mode. Since you can't do that, I'd just let the ZTE be your router, with any wireless radios that it has turned off, and connect it as you have with the R7000 in AP mode. You'll also have LAN ports on the R7000 in AP mode that can be used as well.

I'd at least try this, and see how it works.

How is your connection between the ZTE and the R7000? Are you connecting from a LAN port on the ZTE to the WAN port on the R7000? If the DHCP server is off on the ZTE and the cable in plugged into the R7000's WAN port the the R7000's DHCP server needs to be on.

For a start I would suggest finding a way to get your R7000 back from xVortex's highly dubious firmware to stock or another flavour for the R7000 if you want to avoid Netgears firmware as soon as you can too.
