Out of curiousity, why is there no option to choose Auto for the 5GHz wireless channel, the way you can for 2.4GHz, on an R7800? Don't other routers allow this?

why would you want them ? auto is the worst selection for any wifi , its always best to select a ch to use for both bands , this avoids connection issues with clients as well

Well compared to 2.4Ghz in 5Ghz there are more differences in legal power limits based on the channel selected and you only have 2 5Ghz ac (80 MHz) Channels channels plus DFS (where the router has to check for military/weather radar and throw you off) channels in supported regions. I haven't seen any router with "auto" in 5Ghz.

With the power level differences in different channels I probably wouldn't want auto.

again auto is problematic with or without dfs , if you have no choice use ch 44 and dont use auto

Power limits depend on regions, older devices had lower power for 36-44 and higher for 149-167. The FCC as of 2014 allows the same power higher power levels for 36-48. Honestly you should be ok with either range.
