Hey guys,

I would like to install a kernel module on the stock firmware of the Netgear R9000.

Are there serial pins like for the R8000? --> https://www.myopenrouter.com/article/how-set-serial-console-netgear-r8000
So that we then can connect with ttl-usb cable, interrupt the boot process and access the bootloader and enter single mode.

Or is there an even simpler way?

Hmm, too complex way... Is not it enough for you just to enter to R9000 by telnet is to install kernel module from telnet console (insmod command)? And if it is needed always, add your changes to /etc/modules.d and to /lib/modules/3.10.20

Enable telnet just by http://routerlogin.net/debug.htm

This sounds very good!
This means I will be root user, when I connect over telnet?

Thank you for the quick answer Voxel :)

Yes, root. BTW, I use such scheme for R7800 when I need to install uvc camera modules, but I use opkg package manager and my modules are in *.ipk archive.

Not at all yugo ;)

BTW, there is SSH access in my custom build (dropbear) if you need such experiments too often... For root user of course.
