I have an AC68U router, currently running Merlin 384.15 firmware. A ZTE Mobile hotspot connected to the router via USB as my only and main source for internet.
Every time, I reboot the Asus router or ZTE Mobile Hotspot, I get a random WAN IP from ZTE Mobile Hotspot. The reboot or power cycle, can be 5 min apart or 3 hours apart. I still get random IP from the ZTE hotspot.
When I was running Fork firmware on the AC68 router, I would always get same IP from the ZTE Mobile hotspot.
I can not manually assign a WAN IP to my router, because there is no option in the settings, under Dual WAN/USB settings. And there is no option to manually assign an IP in WAN -->Internet Connection.
So I don't know if this is a bug in the Merlin firmware or I have overlooked a setting in the Merlin firmware.
Yes, I can set the ZTE Mobile Hotspot, to only have one LAN IP, but I don't want to do that, because at times, I take the hotspot with me and have multiple devices connected to it. So this would be an annoying process.
Thanks in advance.
