Raspberry PI5 with LebreELEC/KODI posting endless messages in Router System Log / Messages

Hello all, I want to make it clear this is not a Asuswrt-Merlin issue, but thought I would ask the questions anyway. I get constant connection logs on my router from all of my 5 RPI5's with LE/Kodi around the house. It looks as though they are constantly contacting google, like over and over and over. The pic below of 1 RPI5 has 360 entries of 8.8.4.4. I have another 4 RPI5's with the same thing.

My question is, am I able to turn these off some how either via the LibreELEC/Kodi menu or in Asuswrt-Merlin menu? And is someone able to help me understand what the hell is going here please?

Thanks all.

Mark

Last time I used LibreELEC, the DNS server addresses were hard coded into it. So it's going to try to use those addresses come what may. But within Merlin, you can easily redirect the devices to your router, or any DNS server of your choice using LAN>DNS Director

Thank you mate, I will give that a go. Cheers.

One can use LAN - Route to route both Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) back to the router to try and force the client to use another DNS server rather than Google. Example (Gateway would be the IP address of your router):

route-jpg.60664

It’s high time somebody should point out to the devs behind LE that pointing to Google for DNS is quite anti-Libre.

DNS Director is the way, thanks to Merlin, and unbound makes you your own DNS, speeding the process up while keeping your activities more private.

Good point. I am surprised DNS is hardcoded anywhere these days.

I’ve been a raspi4 xbian-kodi user for several years now, and those devs are more Open ;) minded.
