Reboot by itself / Lost VPN connection without knowing it

Hi guys! I have 2 questions in one for you. Hope you can help me!

I was using my internet as usual until I found I was not anymore on my VPN (Express VPN). So I checked the log and found that the last time I was using my VPN was on march 10th 7PM.

I can tell this because on every line of the logs, it begins with "Mar 10 19:05:00 ovpn-client1[11036]".

Suddenly, it starts showing "kernel, nat, acsd, etc." and many more like that at the beginning of every line to finish with "syslog: WLCEVENTD wlceventd_proc_event" (when I am not using any VPN client)

My questions are :
  1. How can I know why my router (Asus RT-AC-1900P) shutdown/reboot by itself? I guess I have to analyse every lines of the logs
  2. How can I make it to automatically reconnect on my VPN if it happends again?
Thanks! I can send log if it can help you guys! I just want to make sure to not send sensitive data!

What firmware are you using on the RT-AC1900P?

What VPN?

I don't think your interpretation of the logs is accurate? Can you test with an online service if your VPN is 'up'?

If you are not running RMerlin firmware, I don't think there will be much you can do. But flash RMerlin firmware and you'll have scripts available to do exactly what you want. :)

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!

Yes I have merlin firmware (the last one now, 384.15) but when it occurred, it was a previous one (I don't remember which one) so I judge good to update after what happened! My interpretation is accurate because when I checked yesterday if I was on Express VPN with their own websites, I saw I was not protected anymore and I can clearly see with the syslog.txt that since march 5th, it really apprends "openvpn-client" on every beginning of the line but until march 10th to yesterday, it's not there anymore (of course until I enable again my openvpn-client settings)

You may want to search for the VPN_Failover.sh script by Martineau. :)

By the way, just to be sure, is it a script to restart my vpn-client if something happends or it's a script to diagnostic errors if something wrong happens (so I can find the reason why my router failed one day) or both?

Thanks again!
