Recommened DDR3L-1600 for QNAP

I just purchased a TVS-463 to replace my old TS-509 (purchased in 2009) and I am look to max out the RAM.

It requires DDR3L-1600 dimms, does anyone have any recommended brands instead of the $200+ 8GB modules from QNAP

if it uses DDR3 than any DDR3 ram would work from 800mhz to even faster than 1600mhz. The form factor is important and whether or not it uses ECC, registered and that sort of stuff. If ECC is what it needs theres samsung and crucial/micron that do well in that area, otherwise go for crucial, corsair, g.skill and avoid the value range.

DDR3L-1600 is different voltage levels from DDR3-1600, so make sure it's the right type as they are not cross-compatible...

QNAP NAS's are set up very conservative on the RAM timings, so don't need to get the high-end performance "gamer" memory - Crucial, Corair, Mushkin, PNY, Kingston are all good vendors with very good customer service and they stand behind their products..

it is true that DDR3L uses a lower voltage but some gaming or extreme performance rams will operate at that voltage if stated on the specsheet at the frequency and timings needed.

Based on sfx2000's suggestion, I used "basic" Ram. In this case it was Corsair Value Select Ram 2x4 GB CMSO8GX3M2C1600C11. It almost took me longer to find my screwdriver than it did to install. Prices are pretty attractive and the upgrade was maybe 10 minutes. I've used Corsair Ram before, and never had a problem.

value ram isnt really the best option for a dedicated application, it really depends on what chips you get. samsung and micron are chips you would want and value ram mixes chips so one stick could have samsung, another hynix, etc. Another reason why they're called value ram is because they dont past the test for standard ram which is why companies like corsair and kingston offer lifetime warranty on value RAM but they are still a pain to deal with in relation to that warranty.

I've used kingston value ram and they only lasted for a few years.
