Hello from Greece !
I am trying to set up a VPN tunnel in order to access my IP camera remotely in my simple home network.
The main set up of my network is based on this informative post according to these proposals ! So, the current set up is a two router configuration and the IP camera is going to be accessed only through a VPN tunnel remotely, behind the second router. My IP camera (Amcrest ProHD 3MP Wi-Fi Camera (IP3M-941W) is not cloud reliant, but has the option of local storage (microSD card, NAS et) for security reasons, according to the recommendations of this excellent site ! I disabled the p2p connection on IP camera.
ISP modem/router: 192.168.50.0/24 network (LAN port IP : 192.168.50.1)
ASUS router RT-AC52U with the stock updated firmware ASUSWRT: 192.168.51.0/24 network
(WAN port: 192.168.50.2) (LAN port: 192.168.51.1)
The ASUS router is acting as a VPN server (openVPN protocol) on WAN port (IP: 192.168.50.2 , port 1195) and, at the same time, as a VPN client on LAN (IP: 192.168.51.1 , port 1194) (discrete ports between VPN server and client, following this tip (two screenshots included).
VPN network: 10.8.0.0/24
PCs, laptops, smart TV and Android devices (smartphones, tablets) access the internet directly through 192.168.50.0/24 network (normal ISP connection).
My IP camera (Amcrest ProHD 3MP Wi-Fi Camera (IP3M-941W) is connected with ASUS router RT-AC52U.
I also made the following settings:
I can access the camera locally (192.168.50.0 and 192.168.51.0 networks) with the local desktop method (Google Chrome with the appropriate plugin and Seamonkey browser).
The VPN server can also be accessed remotely with all these arrangements, but I don’t know how to set up the IP camera, in order to be accessed remotely through the VPN tunnel !!!
I also don’t know which default gateway must be assigned on Amcrest IP3M-941W IP camera (screenshot included):
ASUS WAN IP (192.168.50.2)

???
ASUS LAN IP (192.168.51.1)

???
VPN network 10.8.0.0/24

???
Thank you in advance for your help !

UPDATE: There is no need to activate VPN client on ASUS router, so as to access my IP camera remotely!VPN client is needed running just in the remote device (eg laptop, smartphone), in order to access local network.
VPN network: 10.8.0.0/24

My IP camera (Amcrest ProHD 3MP Wi-Fi Camera (IP3M-941W) is connected with ASUS router RT-AC52U.
I also made the following settings:
- Assign Static DHCP IP addresses on both routers (eg ASUS router WAN port IP: 192.168.50.2)
- Set up Static routing in ISP modem/router for subnet 192.168.51.0 to point to gateway ASUS router WAN port IP: 192.168.50.2)
- Set up port forward on ISP modem/router the 1195 port (ASUS router VPN server port) to the Asus WAN IP. 192.168.50.2
- Set up dynDNS on ISP modem/router
I can access the camera locally (192.168.50.0 and 192.168.51.0 networks) with the local desktop method (Google Chrome with the appropriate plugin and Seamonkey browser).
