Repeating one of my AP's

I want to repeat one of my asus AP with a linkysy .Is it the same setup as repeating the main router?
Do i have to copy anything from main router into the linksys. I use to repeat the main years ago just
wondering if the process is different with wanting to repeat an AP, Thanks.
