Tim,
Thanks for your help! I have been reading all of your articles. I have one more problem/question I hope that you can answer. I want to build my network using the Gigabit switch you recommended for all the reasons you mentioned. My only problem is that I have Verizon Fios in my house and they require that I use their Actiontec router that they install to run their set top cable boxes and my Fios internet connection. My idea with using the NetGear smart switch is to seperate my equipment and LAN network as much as possible from their router. The Actiontec router seems to be limited to 100 Mbps and will only slow my network upgrade down if I run through it. The way I see it I could then run my network at Gigabit speeds with the exception of when I am going out to the internet through the Actiontec. Would you recommend having an additional router of my own that runs at Gigabit speeds and let it do the DHCP hosting for the network and run the wireless network in my house or do I need to do some other workaround with the Actiontec? I researched this on the web and found this link discussing what seems to be a complicated workaround. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-I...4;jsessionid=3139014B89BBE50533A76E42E405BB26. How would you set this up? Thanks again for any advise and recommendation you can make!
