router rejecting firmware?

Hello,

Apologies for the newb post, I really have no idea what's going wrong here.

I'm trying to flash my AC56 U with the RT-AC56U_380.62_1.trx file , but whenever it comes back up, it's still on an older version (3.0.0.4.374 or similar, I'd have to check) and there's no "powered by Asus Merlin" sticker at the top.

I have tried flashing it from within the GUI, from the CFE tool, and also using the Asus firmware restoration tool (OS X version). They all look like they are succeeding with progress bars etc, but just boot up in the old version.

Am I missing something really simple?

Could it be something to do with Asus firmware changing the verification method?

try going 378 first then upgrade to 380

Again you should be on certain version f/w to flash in a case like this. Well, f/w update procedure is changing from now on. Once updated going back down to older version needs new method too.

The easy step was flashing with 378.55 and then with 380.62
