New Around Here
Hello.
I have noticed, that router's web interface is not reachable via ipv6 address. Even if I directly enter router's ipv6 address (which I saw via ssh with 'ip a' command) to address bar, it is not reachable. I tryed local and global ipv6 addresses.
So I cannot disable ipv4 in my network.

Could you please implement this feature?
For now in my router's interface there are three fields:
  • Device Name
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask

But I cannot give ipv6 ip address to router, because when I am trying to enter fourth digit of first hextet, it is separeted by dot, so router's interface is thinking that I want to enter ipv4 ip address.

When IPV6 is properly implemented world wide, Asus will support it better too.

Right now, RMerlin won't touch IPV6 code as 1) there is no point currently as it is still constantly changing and 2) there is no real need for it for most people, hardware and ISP's.

If it is really such constantly changes, then I can understand.
But why you say, that it is not really needed? IPv4 is running out, so everybody needs IPv6. I want to test running IPv6 only in my network.
And by the way, is it such hard to implement? Just make another field and listening another address?

Public IPv4 is running out indeed, but you have 17.891.328 IPv4 addresses for your private LAN. Do you think it will ran out? It's just yours ;)

First why would you look to the ipv4 page to set your ipv6 address? The ipv6 LAN address is over on the ipv6 page and if you got your ipv6 network automatically, it is also set automatically.

Second you do not want to disable ipv4 on your network because:
1) Not all of the applications on your devices have converted to ipv6
2) Not all service providers have implemented their services in ipv6. For example, your Email server may still be only ipv4.
3) Not all Internet sites have implemented ipv6

Your view that the only change would be to the listening interface for the application to be enabled is wrong. For example, the ipv6 address is much longer and any internal buffers to store/display the address need to be checked to see if they have room. Second the calls to handle the interface traffic needs to have larger arguments to handle the longer ipv6 address. A visual idea of the process would be to install huge truck tires onto a small car. It is not just a case of attaching to the bolts. Other parts need to be checked for clearance to allow the tire to rotate, and the speed odometer may need to be replaced too.

coldwizard,
Oh yes, you are right! IPv6 LAN address is configured in IPv6 tab in IPv6 LAN Setting section.

About disabling ipv4:
1) I understand that. Even Steam is still using ipv4
2) Thank my ISP and email server, it is implemented for me
3) This is still main problem for me
But I want to play with is for test reasons.

Ok, my view was incorrect, but is it still such difficult? I am wondering, because anyway it needs to be implemented later or earlier... Because ipv4 will die. If it is easy, maybe I could implement it myself.
