I've been trying to flash from both web interface and the firmware restoration tool from Asus and I can only upload the new firmware but nothing gets flashed, the Asus tool shows it has failed upgrading and the web interface just refreshes the page after uploading the firmware.

Any tips? I have 2 of the same routers upgraded to the latest Merlin's firmware but they had a quite recent Merlin's fw anyway.

According to the thread I need to upgrade to 0.5. Im guessing it means 3.0.0.5. Merlin's hosting pages only go so far when it comes to the versions hosted in both sites tho. Does anyone know a site for "legacy" firmware?

I just upgraded to 378.55 but can't upgrade any further. I used the Asus restore tool. Do you guys usually flash using the Asus tool or the web interface is good enough for upgrading?

^ Yes, I tried.

Actually I was able to upgrade to 380 and afterwards to 384. I used the web interface to upgrade the firmware, otherwise the Asus restore tool wouldn't flash anything at all

The restore tool wouldn't work for me either, but the mini CFE server (in a browser) at bootup worked.

I recently went back to Asuswrt-merlin on my AC66U-B1 as the latest DD-WRT builds are having some functionality issues right now and I haven't used merlin's in a couple years (Asuswrt didn't have the QoS functionality i was looking for like DD-WRT had, but it looks like that's different now).

Went from DD-WRT build 35831 (soft-bricked my router) to Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4_2. Only had to erase nvram by WPS button to get it to boot.
