Going to replace the main rt-ac66u ,leaving the others rt-ac66u in AP mode.
Anyone know why the rt-ac86u cost more than the rt-ac87u.Is there somethi8ng buyers should know

The 86u is better in every way than the 87u. Don’t let the confusing model numbers be confusing.

My opinion; if I were you, I'd pick the 86u because:

- hw is powerful than 87u;
- has better wifi coverage than 87u;
- has faster boot than 87u;
- (in my case) is cheaper than 87u
