The tooltip for TurboQAM states '256 QAM (MSC 8/9) support. Wireless mode must be set to Auto'.
Is this correct? If I set wireless mode to 'N Only' will I lose the TurboQAM function?
Thanks.

I too can't answer for the TurboQAM aspect. But I do know that a setting other than Auto for the wireless mode gives decreased performance overall.

Who knows. I have yet to see a single TurboQAM-capable client...
The only one I know of is the Asus USB-AC56, and I can confirm it does support TurboQAM in 2.4GHz mode. It can do TurboQAM with both Marvell and Broadcom based AC1900 class AP's.
Performance there wasn't any different than with TurboQAM disabled on the AP - but I'm in a fairly noisy 2.4GHz environment.
Enabling Turbo on the AP's did cause some legacy client issues, so I recommend disabling it in 2.4G, and use B/G/N mixed mode instead.
And TurboQAM is about to be "obsoleted" now, with NitroQAM coming in the very near future...
Hehe, which will be even more useless in real world, but a new box to check on the marketing datasheet eh?
1 Gbps on the 2.4 GHz band... Please, someone show me a real-life setup that can achieve such a PHY link, and generate the 500-600 Mbps of throughput one would expect out of it...
Marketing. Eh.
Yeah - tried turbo in 2.4GHz on narrow channel - which is probably non-optimal - pretty much fell apart and went back to 144Mbps after a couple of minutes... and that is 256QAM, nitroQAM is what, 1024QAM? just crazy...
Yes, and it's available on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with the new bcm4366.
