RT-AC56U Issues

New Around Here
I am new both here and to the router so forgive me if I am repeating other posts. Bought it last weekend, upgraded the firmware to the latest ( 3.0.0.4.374_4561 ) and have found a issue which is a bit of a pain.

The pain is that upon reboot the DHCP address is released and a new one granted upon reboot. I use no-ip.org to provide DDNS service and there is a fair old time lag before it is updated. Is there anyway to prevent that from happening?

stop_wan(): perform DHCP release

Every time I reboot the system I need to update no-ip.org by hand.

If your ISP allocates a new IP whenever renewing the lease then there is nothing the router can do about it. Obtaining a new lease after a reboot is fairly normal.

You shouldn't need to reboot your router that often to begin with. I've had customers with their routers running for over 6 months without a single reboot.

Look on the bright side, you don't have to worry about renewing your domain name every 30 days.

I have never used no-ip DDNS....but I have used DynDNS and the Asus provided DDNS service configured via the router web GUI. Both updated immediately after a router reboot or WAN IP change.
