New Around Here
I am either overlooking something simple or I have purchased the wrong router to use as for my VPN client.

My setup:

FIOS router in basement with wireless and ethernet being used.

MoCA bridge to Airport Extreme on third floor. Good wireless and access.

I want to add the AC66U to allow for uninterrupted Netflix streaming via VPN (thank you Verizon!!). I have a MoCA bridge on the second floor that has worked in the past with another Airport Extreme.

When I tried to connect the AC66U to the MoCA bridge (I used Access Point)... I was getting intermittent access to the internet, but no Advanced options in the Merlin FW to set up the VPN. When I changed the mode to "router", I all the merlin additions to the FW, but no access to the internet. Eventually I was unable to actually change the mode (kept getting a 404 error). Flashed back to original FW, but when I tried to use the utility software to see what was up, it kept saying I didn't have a cable connected between the computer and router. Multiple cables no change.

So, my question... can I use the MoCA bridge with this router? I want to keep the FIOS and AE wireless.
Can I set this up as a wireless repeater instead and use the VPN client option for Netflix.

Did I just waste my money and time?

To get the advanced features you will need to double NAT the ASUS behind the Actiontec and use it as a router vs. an AP.

Connect the Ethernet cable coming out of your MOCA adapter to the WAN port of your ASUS router. You will need to give your ASUS a static IP in the subnet of the Actiontec. The ASUS will then be set up in its own subnet i.e 192.168.2.1 - 254.

I have mine set up that way but I have no problems streaming Netflix using FIOS so I seldom if ever connect to Netflix using my VPN even though I get download speeds of 75 Mbps using a VPN connection.
