380.70 will be the last release on the Legacy branch. All models have now been migrated to the 384/NG code base, with the exception of the older MIPS-based models, the RT-N66U and RT-AC66U. Support for these two older models will be dropped.

The last, final release of the 380.xx series is now available for all supported models.

People using an RT-N66U or RT-AC66U and wishing to gain continued updates are urged to consider switching to @john9527 's fork, which is still in active development.

Asus just released 382 version for RT-AC66U. Is there a chance that it will get Merlin version?
Given that this fact doesn't address the major reasons why Merlin dropped support for the RT-N66U and RT-AC66U, I can't see why he would re-add them. From: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/end-of-year-2017-development-update.42965/
  • They are still very actively supported by John's fork
  • There were a number of limitations related to that older MIPS platform and its older Linux kernel
  • Dropping an entire SDK (6.34 + Kernel 2.6.19) removes a significant burden from the project, which now has to deal with a new (radically different) platform, with the RT-AC86U's Broadcom HND SDK.
  • I don't know yet what are Asus's plans regarding 382 and these two models, but even if they get migrated, I suspect they won't be as frequently updated as newer models, which is now an important factor due to the amount of closed source components part of Asuswrt
Given the amount of work he's put into the 382/384 branch without support for those models, adding support now would undoubtedly be a huge amount of work.

Where can I download this?

The ASUS site seems to offer downloads for the new AC66U only (not the spare legacy MIPS model that I have).

Silly me; I did see that but thought my AC66U looked different (went to the attic now to check; it's my model indeed).
