I installed a RT-AC68P (Best Buy Model) recently.
During setup a new Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.376_3626 was installed. The wireless range of this device is disappointing, especially on 5 ghz. 2.
I retrieved this information from the firmware:
admin@RT-AC68P:/tmp/home/root# wl txpwr_target_maxMaximum Tx Power Target (chanspec:0x1001): 18.00 18.00 18.00
admin@RT-AC68P:/tmp/home/root# wl country
US (Q2/40) UNITED STATES
admin@RT-AC68P:/tmp/home/root# nvram get wl_TxPower
This command doesn't provide a result
admin@RT-AC68P:/tmp/home/root# nvram get wl_txpower
100
Is this maximum power this router will produce in the US?
The 18 dbm translates to 63 mw? The antennas are 5 db gain so in theory the ERP is greater than 63 mw, but my older router has better 2.4 ghz range.
I saw numerous excellent recommendations for the AC68U router and am wondering if mine is performing to spec or do I have a problem?
Thanks for any ideas.
