[RT-AC68U] Adding a route between two different VLANs.

ToJa92

New Around Here
Hi.

I recently setup an RT-AC68U when I got a new fiber connection installed.

The ISP (Telia, a Swedish ISP, http://www.telia.se) has a TV subscription service that I use. They transmit the data on its own VLAN, using VID 845.
In order to get it working with the provided TV box, I simply had to set it up like this in the LAN -> IPTV section of the router (ignore the fact that it says N66U, I'm not at the place where the AC68U is):

It works perfectly.
Now, the ISP also provides a mobile phone app that allows you to control the TV box from your mobile phone. Unfortunately, this is where I have some issues.

The app (which is running on a mobile phone connected using WiFi) doesn't detect the box.
The ISP only officially support their own router/gateway, a Technicolor TG799vn with a branded (and locked down) firmware.

The ISP's router is obviously able to make the apps work, but I don't want to use it (mostly because of the crappy WiFi reception, and also because the firmware on older models have been extremely unstable).

My question is, is it possible to make this work with the AC68U?
Unfortunately the ISP won't tell anyone how it is set up.

The app does take a little while to scan for the TV box before giving up, so my guess is that it simply scans the entire IP range (I.E. 192.168.1.x) until it finds a TV box, so making the TV box a part of the range with its own IP address might work.
On another forum, one guy mentioned static routing as a solution to the problem.

It wouldn't be an issue to switch to a firmware other than Asus', as long as it is fairly stable.

Here's a little picture I drew on how I'd like it to work:

Hi Toja!

Did you ever managed to get this working? I think you'll need the IPTV box and the phone/tablet on the same LAN to get this working.

Why did you want to separate the IPTV traffic from your LAN where you have your clients?
