RT-AC68U AND HUAWEI e3276

miogatto

New Around Here
FIRMWARE: RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.47_0

MODEM: HUAWEI e3276 (locked to "LTE only" with Mobile Partner)
The only way to make it work with the router is to set up WAN like this:

Location: Sweden
ISP: Telia
Network Type: 4G/3G
APN: internet
Dial Number: *99#
PIN: -
Username: -
Password: -
USB Adapter: Automatic

And this is what happens:
After rebooting the router, the e3276 blinks turquoise,
but nothing happens. After some frustration,
I noticed that I have to unplug it from usb and
plug it again... sometimes more than 1 time.. and than it finally gets
recognized and a steady turquoise light tells me that it's working.

I was thinking: after all, the e3276 is not in the dropdown list,
maybe the initialization string is not the right one
"/bin/comgt -d /dev/ttyUSB0 -s /etc/ppp/3g/Generic_conn.scr"

Performance is not optimal: with the usb modem directly connected to
a computer, not caring too much about the position,
speed test gives me about 12 Mbps download
but unplugging the stick and connecting it to the router's usb2 port,
performance drops to 7-8 Mbps download, when I'm lucky.
Upload and ping suffer same problems, too.

And yes, this happens even if I put the stick in front of the window!

Question #1: is it easy to support the e3276 modem and to include it
in the dropdown list? after all it shouldn't be difficult because it works

Question #2: is it normal this huge performance drop with this router?

Question #3: is there a way the router can tell me the e3276's signal strength in real time?
(I can see it in the Mobile Partner screen, when connected to a pc,
I think Mobile Partner polls the modem every sec and displays a growing bar)

Question #4 Is there a way to tell if modem is connected to LTE network or to 3G... (yes, I know, when I'm in the same room I can see it from the color of the steady led: turquoise, blue, green)

Thank You
