RT-AC68U - Firmware Question

DragonFyre

New Around Here
I will admit up front I am a newbie when it comes to routers.

RT-AC68U - 3.0.0.4.376_1663

The router has an update, I am not sure how old of a version I am on.

I read the thread about the official firmware locking down some frequencies??
Most of it was Greek to me.

Should I just hit the update button or attempt to install Merlins?

I am totally Lost

You're probably fine - you can stay were you are, or flash to the latest...

Most of the concerns are related to the 1 percent of folks that want to absolutely tweak stuff.

Considering the firmware you are using is over a year old and the security exploits found since that time (and corrected by Asus and RMerlin), I would strongly suggest to upgrade to RMerlin's latest build for your router.

You will need to do a full reset to factory defaults and manually and minimally setup the router (including new ssid's). But that will be true of any firmware you install on the router now.

And RMerlin is the Asus firmware 'done right'. ;)
