Guyz after reading few excellent reviews of RT-AC68U I took the plunge and invested a huge money on that..

facing lot of difficulties with this router now, its almost pathetic considering the experience i have had so far.. apologies the outburst but when things dont go as expected on such huge money then it does not feel alright..

* Today morning i was writing to the connected USB 3.0 disk and it was showing pathetic speed of 5 mBps and gradually that reduced to lowly 100 kBps :(

* Everyday after few hours my USB 3.0 Led stops and i can no more access my USB 3.0 disk :( (reduce USB 3.0 interference is enabled).. ( i am not sure if this due to the router or my new USB 3.0 disk is bad )

* miniDLNA rebuilding its database every now and then is a pain.. :(

* if one client is connected to miniDLNA, other sometime never find it and the router says 5 concurrent clients possible? or else the speed on the other one would be like unusable..

* WiFi speed on clients keeps fluctuating from 11 mbps to 150 mbps.. never know what it would be in that range.. :(

my USB 3.0 hard disk is Seagate Backup Plus 2 TB.. is that not good?

i was on stock asus 371 firmware, graduated to merlin 35_4 and i appreciate what merlin provides, its better, but still many of other difficulties are there some of which i have mentioned above (difficulties on asus part)..

whats going on guyz please help.. this is premium cost router but with these kind of difficulties whats the consistent use of this router.. what am i missing.. what i need to do..

Is that 5MB/s - 100KB/s range over wireless?

I get similar numbers (3-5MB/s) over 2.4 ghz with 20 mhz channel width.

On 5ghz ac I get way better speeds (23-27 MB/s).

What kind of USB speeds do you get when you connect with ethernet? If it's fast, then your problem may be more with the wifi throughput than the USB drive.

Everything you've said seems to be about what I'd expect if you're using 2.4 ghz wifi (which the AC68U is pretty weak at with current firmwares).

Apparently, the upcoming firmware due this week (according to Asusnet) will fix most of 2.4GHz problems.

For wifi stability please try firmware 3.0.0.4.374_205, this one works for me.

Try the new 433 beta firmware by sending a PM to Asusnet (check this forum sticky thread)

It is much more stable from the limited testing done in the past few hours.

thanks.. PMed to Asusnet requesting this beta..

i will update further of the experience..

very much disappointed of the 2.4GHz performance and media server stability and performance issues..

in my opinion Asus should have put in market what is working properly in their lab and verification environment instead of this product with so many known difficulties in 2.4 GHz.. i mean one client on DLNA and my kid on other client cant see mediaserver atall or too much choppy video coming does not feel good for the money paid.. i hope the issues will be resolved, but i was thinking of why the organization would put such product in market in which we face such issues on 2.4, the problems which are inherent inside the router (hardware or firmware whatever - "inside the router") which is not customer's fault.. is that normal? .. why is it wrong to say the product is premature to put in market due to whatever its hardware or firmware immaturity stage which it is yet to stabilize.. not sure if i have high expectations that products should work out of the box for the money paid..

thanks everyone for help and pointers.. i will update further of the improvements..
