RT-AC68U setting up 802.3ad

Hello
About A month ago I got a RT-AC68U with the refund of my RT-AC66U Witch I did not Like For several reasons

I have to say that The accessory's that were included with the AC68U were just as disappointing as with the once that came with the AC66U
as for Asus there VIP support service...
They just tell me That "A CAT5E Cable will work with it"
In witch I responded "So Does CAT3 Cable"
I Just think that A Premium Product's accessory's should also let you believe that you bought A Premium Product

But Enough About That (I hope that Breaks the Ice For My First Post)

So I got The RT-AC68U Up and running and hooked up all my networking gear
I Requested My Provider to Turn My Modem Router into Bridge mode
Got a PCI-E-AC68 Card for in the PC that I Cannot run a cable to (unless I use A very long Cable)
and it seems to run pretty fine till so far

I Also Own a Synology DS414 NAS
Witch has the benefit of having 2 LAN ports Witch can be used for "Network Fault Tolerance" or "IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic Link Aggregation"

So I started to look in to this
However I ran into some problems
First of all Asus There VIP support did not help me but just told me that it was not supported
So My next support ticker to them will probably be for A Refund

well after that I Tried using asuswrt-Merlin Firmware
Witch lets me keep the nice GUI and gave me some extra inside on the router
however Knowing that there is Link Aggregation support
I could not find a way to turn this on from the GUI witch made it pretty hard for me to get it working
After a while I just decided to put the Script onto a USB Drive and was able to get it running from that drive witch is a bit weird because I recall reading somewhere that this was build into the firmware (thats also why I was looking in the GUI for this)

so Eventually I got it running and then ... all the Ports on the AC68U Bricked
So I tried it again from my Wireless System and all the ports Bricked Again

than I tried it again with only A One port of my DS414 Connected ... the ports Bricked Again

And Finally I Tried it with only One PC connected to the switch and ... the ports Bricked Again

So I'm A bit lost in getting to work and I hope somebody over here could help me out with this

RT-AC68U Firmware:3.0.0.4.374.38_1 (Merlin build)
DS414 OS: DSM 4.3-3810 Update 4
Wired PC OS: Win7u
Wireless PC OS Win7u
(and all Cables Are CAT6 :D)

Haven't done anything like this myself but maybe this link will help:
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Link-Aggregation

But that is where the LAN ports on the Router Bricked
I Loaded the script onto a USB drive
Plugged it into the AC68U
and used the run CMD page
/tmp/mnt/sda/LinkAgg 1 2

Every time I did this the Ports got Bricked
even without my DS414 Not connected to it
I Had to power cycle the router every time to get the ports to work again

i know nothing about this, but it looks like you specified the drive rather than the partition on the drive;

/tmp/mnt/sda/LinkAgg 1 2

should be

/tmp/mnt/sda1/LinkAgg 1 2

Than I get this:
sh: /tmp/mnt/sda1/LinkAgg: not found
There is only one Drive with one partition on it

But Thanks anyway

Hi,

Did you managed to get the Link Aggregation working?

I have the exact same problem as you on my RT-AC68U with 376.47 Merlin firmware.

Thanks.

I got link aggregation to work with various switches by matching xmit_hash_policy to the switch's hashing algorithm and setting/using a combination of nvram variables and service startup script... I didn't use LinkAgg but it inspired me to create a simpler startup script (set and forget). I'll post more details this weekend as I am currently traveling.

Can you provide the modifications you used and possibly the log and debugging information from when setting up the LAG failed. Thanks :)

Can you please show us how you managed to get the link aggregation function to work on AC68U?

Until now any attempt to get it failed with the lan ports locked until I reboot the router.

Thanks in advance.
