RT-AC68U slowing down every day

My Asus RT-AC68U works fine, I really love it. However, in the past months I have noticed that the router gets slower and slower every day. After I reboot the router, it is back at its normal speed.

The slowness typically shows when surfing the web from iPad or iPhone. When I do a speedtest during these slow performance periods, it nicely shows the normal speed (100 Mbit up and down through fibre). Restarting the iPhone and iPads does not change anything.

I know it is possible to automatically restart the router regularly, but as I have security cameras attached to it, that is not really an option.

I use Merlin 380.59. My setup is two cable connected RT-AC68U routers, one in router mode, one in Access Point mode.

I have two questions for the community:
1) does anybody recognize this issue and is there something that I can do to fix it?
2) if there is no fix, is there a way I can analyze the network behavior to figure out what is causing the slowness?

Thanks!

Either upgrade to the 380.61 Alpha 2 builds today, or wait for the final version of this latest firmware.

380.59 was buggy for many.

I am using the 68u also. I migrated to 380.59 last week from 378.56_2, and, thus far, the router is much more reliable for me, and seemingly faster. The old version using QOS bandwidth limiter used to stop the limiting every few days, new one has not done that. Overall, speeds really seem better. Very pleased. We have 2 iPads and 2 iPhones, along with more than a dozen other devices of all sorts, HTPC, Roku, Apple TV, BluRay, etc. Knock on wood so to speak, but, thus far, not a single issue.

Strange that when "slow", you are seeing full speed via speedtest!

Well, ok, there was one minor issue. Using Safari on Mac at least, the screen where you define bandwidth limiting actually never saves anything and you end up nothing being bandwidth limited. With Firefox Mac, it works fine. While I have seen others saying they had trouble on 378.56_2 with Safari, I actually had no issues on any screen on that release. So, one minor annoyance.

Are the issues/bugs like slow UI already solved in .60 or 61 ?

I'm asking because I have still .58 running on my ac68u and protracting to update my router.
Currently I see no reason or benefit, except I'm forced to.
