Hi,
my RT-AC68U is configured to use HTTPS for UI interface (LAN only) and I am struggling with its slow UI interface.
I know that HTTPS access is supposed to be slower, but the difference between HTTP and HTTPS is so high that makes me believe I might have something not configured correctly.
I am using a pc connected via ethernet directly to the router.
With HTTP I can go from one page to another instantly. No loading, no waiting.
With HTTPS it takes at least 10 seconds (average is between 15 and 20 seconds) to switch from one page to another. Sometimes even just reloading the network map (less than 10 clients) can take 40/50 seconds.
In my network normally there are these connected elements: 4 low traffic pc, 2 phones connected, an IP camera (not allowed to WAN) and a Raspberry Pi (running PiHole). Sporadically there might be additional 3 clients (NAS, a network printer and another pc, currently all turned off).
Router is running OpenVPN server to allow remote connection for 2 laptops, but those are currently turned off.
I don't even see too much data inbound/outbound so I assume router CPU is not overloaded handling traffic.
My two questions:
1) Is this expected? Is there anything I can try to make UI faster?
2) Would it be unsafe to switch authentication to HTTP? I connect to router only via LAN (no WAN).
Thanks in advance
