(I am quite new to all this stuff, so I may not use all the correct lingo to explain my question. I'm not even sure this is the correct forum for my question.)
I'm trying to use the link sharing functionality of aicloud. I am able to generate the link - for example, for a home video we have that is an mp4 file - copy it, and then send it in an email to family members. The problem is on their end when they receive it and try to play it using their mobile device.
As I've been playing around with this, sending these links to myself, the only app on my android device that will play this video is VLC. The mobile device's stock video app isn't even presented as an option to play the video referenced by the link. And, if I try to play it using the mobile device's stock browser app, I get a strange message: "403 - Forbidden". But VLC works perfectly.
Well, as I said, I have discovered that VLC will work for this purpose. But, I have no idea whether all the family members I might want to send this link to have VLC installed. And, some of them are VERY unfamiliar with their devices, so asking them to install VLC and then ensuring they open the link with that app will simply drive them insane due to confusion.
Anyway, I tried testing this out by sending the link to some of these people, and as I feared, what I got back were responses like this: "I tapped the link, and nothing happened", or, "I tapped the link, and it asked me which app to use, but I didn't know what to do/I tried one of them but it wouldn't play", etc.
This all seems very strange to me, I wondered, Why would Asus provide a feature that in effect would hardly ever be usable? I am thinking that it must be I who is doing something wrong.
So, my questions are, What am I doing wrong? How do I generate/send these links so that the recipient can simply tap the link and have the video play (just like they do for all other multimedia links they frequently receive in messages)?
Thanks in advance for your help with this.
