RT-AC87R: USB issue.

New Around Here
Hi guys,

So today after a long while, I decided to plug my USB 3.0 HDD to the USB 3.0 port of my router. To my surprise, nothing happened. No signs of life at all, the drive didn't seem to be getting power from the router. I've plugged in the very same HDD to my router several times before without issues.

So to try and remedy the situation, I did the following:

  1. Plugged the HDD to the USB 2.0 port. Nothing!
  2. Took a 2GB flash drive I have laying around, formatted it on a PC and plugged it in both router ports, nothing!
  3. Performed a reset using WPS button. Didn't help.
  4. Flashed back latest ASUS firmware. I was using Merlins firmware 378.51. Still nothing!
  5. After flashing back stock firmware, I did a reset with the WPS button and again with the reset button. No joy!
  6. Checked the log on the router for any USB activity when plugged in. Nothing!
I'm stumped at this point. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
