Hi i recently bought a RT-AC87U and it seems to be working just fine but i've got something weird with lan port 1

The lan port 1 blinks weird on the router. It has the normal network activity blinking but besides that the lan port also blinks off for 1 or 2 seconds and back on for 1 or 2 seconds (this keeps repeating). The other lan ports don't have this behavior

When i disconnect the network cable lan port 1 still blinks on and off in the before mentioned behavior without the standard network activity blinking

I could not find anything in the manual about this behavior so i'm hoping someone here can tell me what it means.

I've attached a screenshot from within the firmware where you can see that the router could not name the device last seen on that port. Don't know if thats connected but just extra information

I'm running the latest Asuswrt merlin firmware from http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/

If not mistaken, lan port 1 is controlled by a Realtek chip, the other ports by other vendor, hence the different led blinking behaviour.
About the pic, no idea, I have the same report!

Short comments:

- Port 1 does not and should not flash when the LAN cable is disconnected.
- Your attached picture shows something connected at port 1.
- Port 1 seems unable to present the name or id of the device connected to it (same for all AC87 AFAIK, mine too).

Did you factory reset after loading the firmware? <<< VERY IMPORTANT
Have you perhaps configured VLANs in the router?

LAN Port 1 is the QTN radio/AP in the 87U...
sfx2000 so the lan port 1 is controlled by the QTN chip too? I thought QTN was only controlling the 5GHz WiFi radio!
Hum.. being true, that would explain the crash that I had yesterday when the 5GHz and Lan Port 1 stopped working... 2.4GHz was fine, didn't check Lan Ports 2/3/4!

The router does have teaming functionality on lan port 1 and 2.

@mattiL
Did factory default reset after firmware flash yes

VLAN's are present as can be seen from the attached picture. But other then that i did nothing to change anything VLAN wise (don't think you can in ASUS/merlin firmware)

BRCM - (RGMII) - QTN - Realtek to the physical port on LAN1

The QTN has two interfaces - one to the Broadcom SoC, and the external facing port via the Realtek to LAN1 - hope that clears things up...

To the Broadcom, the QTN is treated as LAN1 on it...

Weird design...
