Coil noise, it's common with modern electronics.

"Common" specially when faulty parts exist inside on electronics, none of my routers ever did any kind of noise (including RT-AC87U), beside at some point my old RT-N66U, "playing" annoying sounds comming from inside, after replacement i got a brand new silent one.

Obvious im talking of noticable noise here, not noise that only can be heard when you are at complete silence and your ear next to the equipment, those are normal and acceptable, as RMerlin stated it's the well known "coil noise".

RMA is the way.

Coil noise is most common on Graphics cards, technically it isn't really classed as a fault although if loud enough most companies will replace it.
