New Around Here
Hi,

I bought an RT-AC88U in February and had some problems with 2.4Ghz WiFI, when using Channel 6 (20Mhz) which is the clearest in my home.

I put up with it for a while by using Channel 1 or 11, but the performance on 2.4Ghz only devices was quite poor due to neighbouring networks on those channels.

Whenever I set the 88U to Channel 6, the SSID would appear and disappear at random and there was frequently no data throughput.

I tried various things including:

- Latest ASUS firmware
- Latest Merlin firmware
- Flashed older ASUS firmware with the recovery tool
- Disabled Beamforming
- Disabled TurboQAM
- Changed the Beacon Interval

But the problem continued.

I have an old RT-AC87U so I decided to test that, and it worked perfectly on channel 6.

That seemed to proove the problem was the 88U, so Amazon agreed to replace the device.

I now have the replacement, and unbelievably, it also has the same problem! Channel 6 will not work and the SSID keeps appearing/disappearing.

Is this a known fault on this model? Is there anything else I can try? I like ASUS routers but am losing faith in them now and feel like asking for a refund.
