New Around Here
Hi,

Without boring you all with background and reasons; media bridges, home plugs, adding a switch or other solutions etc is at this point not an option, so please keep comments to the question at hand :)

My network-lingo might not be 100% correct, so bare with me...

Is it possible to dedicate or isolate 2 ports to a specific subnet/vlan, and also set up a guest wifi to use the same subnet/vlan?

Situation:
I have media convertor (MC in text below) at home where the city provided fiber connection comes in.
MC have 2 ports configured for WAN/Internet access, and 3 ports assigned for IPTV service.
Currently a cable goes from 1 internet/wan port in the MC to the ASUS router, and a cable from 1 MC IPTV port straight to the IPTV Set top box (STB).

Now, I would like to get that IPTV signal into the ASUS to be able to provide multiple rooms with TV.

Home network on 192.168.1.x (as per ASUS default)

IPTV comes in with 10.88.x.x

Where I want to end up:

Internet -> ASUS WAN port
ASUS LAN port 1-6 -> 192.168.1.x
ASUS 2.4/5ghz Wifi -> 192.168.1.x

IPTV -> ASUS Lan port 7 (or any applicable of the 8 ports in the ASUS)
ASUS Lan port 8 -> IPTV STB in living room
ASUS Guest Wifi -> 10.88.x.x --> IPTV STB's on upper floor (STB manufacturer have official, compatible usb wifi dongles available for the STB's. I would very much like to NOT have to tear down inner walls and drill through ceilings etc to install some 50+ meters of cable just to get TV on the upper floor....

So, I need the IPTV STB's to get all their dns, dhcp req's and def GW to just pass through the ASUS and out the IPTV link in the MC, where the service providers network will handle the rest.

At this point, I have not been able to verify if the 10.88.x.x IPTV traffic is VLAN tagged when it leaves the MC, or if the MC strips that and simply sends it out to the 3 ports defined for IPTV service. My wireshark skills are not yet high enough :P

Getting the physical lan ports to handle the IPTV traffic shouldn't be an issue I guess, but getting the router to set up a guest wifi on the same net might be trickier, or?

Thanks in advance & Best Regards
