New Around Here
Chronology:

last week: wifi speed became slow, sluggish, LAN is normal. realized new firmware available in GUI, update success, but no wifi signal both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Getting into GUI > wireless, wrong country code pops up.

reset & hard reset same results. LAN is working normally. (Reset : pressing reset button until power LED blinks) (Hard reset : router sw off, hold WPS, router sw ON, power LED off, release WPS, router sw OFF)

today:

1) attempt to flash earlier firmware from asus website, 3.0.0.4.388_25127. flash successful, but no difference.
2) going rage mode, found rt-ax58u earlier firmware from russian website. cant remember the site though. it has many collections of asus router firmwares. flash via rescue mode successful, but router going into boot loop.
3) flashing via rescue mode into merlin latest firmware for rt-ax58u, successful, still looping. hard reset after rescue solves the looping issue, but pc not getting IP address after that (which means cannot access GUI to setup the router). tried rescue-ing using various merlin firmwares (384, 386, 388), asus firmwares (only 2 available via website, all 388). all not getting IP address after soft or hard reset.
4) on merlin FW, only 388 manages to get out of bootloop after hard reset. 384 & 386 keep looping.

only after googling further, found the asus router malware thread, which is very very similar to my problem last week. therefore, is there any way to

A) solve no IP issue to access GUI
B) solve the radio issue due to malware (have to PM certain forum member i think)

Thank you all for reading this.

- Most likely your router was damaged by recent malware
- Work with Asus Support, they know about the issue and may offer you RMA after the warranty period

will try contacting them. hopefully they honor the warranty since my receipt has long gone.

edit: https://as-rma.asus.com/my
putting in serial number gives this error: We apologize. Your product can't be checked. bummer
