My RT-AX86U seems to be running at full power all the time 35-40 watts even when not using the internet. I thought it would go into a low power mode when not being heavily used, does anyone else have this problem? I am running Merlin Firmware 3004.388.8_2.

Hi, CPU usage is very low 1 - 5% I have an energy monitor in the house and in the last week or so its gone up by 15-20 watts and the only thing can point it to is the router...

I can't see how the router could possibly use 35-40 watts unless you have a particularly power hungry USB device plugged into it.

I have the same router as you and the maximum power draw I see without any USB devices plugged in is ~9 Watts.

How is the router the only thing you can point to? How are you determining it is the router that caused your usage to increase by 15 to 20 watts?

This router is under 10W with no USB devices attached.

I have no usb devices attached. But there is something weird going on, maybe its my energy monitor..am not sure.
What sort of energy monitor is it? One that monitors a single outlet (or can be moved to a single outlet) or one that monitors the entire house at the same time?
