RT-N16 randomly reboots.

New Around Here
Hi guys

I recently bought the rt n 16, and I love it. I have merlin 376.48_2 running on it and transmission installed via entware.

Seemingly at random the router seems to reboot and all clients wireless or wired stop.

Also my transmission service seems to stop randomly as well. Normally during fast downloading or at the end of the download.

I've tried restoring to factory defaults and reinstalling my firmware but the issue remains.

I'm kind of lost about what to do. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to adjust the transmission settings. Try lower connections until it behaves.

I have a swap file. The ram usage seems fine. About 25% that's what was confusing me. I did so further digging yesterday and switched to rtorrent. It does seem better.

The big issue seemed to be CPU usage. Which was almost constantly 100% before the switch to rtorrent. I shut down media server, and ftp and am currently hovering around 25% CPU maxed. I will start adding services back in until I find the tipping point I guess.

Thanks again guys

The media server can easily crash if it encounters a corrupted media file. Try limiting the medias shared by the Media Server until you can isolate which one is causing the crash.

Is there any alternative to the built in media server that you guys prefer. The default seems OK but I know most people dont like DM hence why transmission and rtorrent etc seem to be used instead. Do you guys have anything else you use?

Are you talking about the media server, or the torrent client from Download Master? These are two totally different things.

No the DLNA media server that's comes with your firmware merlin. I've already replaced DM with rTorrent but was wondering if I should replace the standard media server also.

Thanks tehash. I set it up about an hour ago. However I note it is still not showing any media?

I'm sure I setup the media folder correctly as I can see my media in the opt/debian/mnt folder.

PS my torrents have been stable all weekend. No crash's, thanks for your help on that guys.

/opt/etc/init.d/S99debian start

What shows 192.168.1.1:8200 ?
rebuild database
/opt/etc/init.d/S99debian stop
rm -r /mnt/sda1/debian/opt/minidlna
/opt/etc/init.d/S99debian start

Hey again guys,

Sorry to be a pain, the issue with torrents seems to have returned. I have my swap file active and still seem to run out of memory when I get a slightly faster torrent downloading (anything over 1MB/s seems to be the trigger).

I seen these commands in a previous thread on memory issues, so I will post the outputs in case it helps:
