New Around Here
I'm in the marker for a new router , currently using E4200v1 with the Steve Jenkins dd-wrt build, looking to get a Asus router to play with. Came across a used n66u on Craig's for $100, or a n66r $109 on newegg or even better the ac66r for $139. Also should I choose the n66u over the n66r for any reason? Im able to get pretty good discount at bestbuy if the n66r is good to go Thank you

suprised no one said to use the search function yet:D

ha . . . this is true, you'd find the R & U designation just indicates if it is from Best Buy or not, the hardware is the same.

The ac is up to you, if you have other ac stuff where it would be advantageous. It's pretty light on ac devices right now, it's technically still a "draft" spec, though many devices that use it can certainly be found. Based on these forums I think going w/ an ac model will lead to a slightly higher risk of you being pissed off with the speed you may or may not be getting. ;)

I would personally spend $10 more to avoid meeting a stranger on craigslist any day of the week.

that being said, im pretty leaning towards the N66R from best buy, the one i found on newegg is a refurb. just a $30 diffrenece from what i can get it at best buy. info i was able to gather is that the n66r does cover with cfe 32k, planning on flashing Rmerlins firmware to start out with or even brainslayer. is the wireless coverage the same AC66/N66, i know of the few issues ppl are having with the AC and 5ghz.
anyways, thanks for the help!!!!
