RT-N66U Keeps losing internet access

Benuva

New Around Here
Hello,

I have an ASUS RT-N66U and it keeps losing internet access. I'm trying to paste the system log here but idiotic cloudflare keeps blocking me...

It happens randomly, but more often if I'm downloading something. I have a modem my ISP gave me giving internet to the router, and then I have two computers connected to the router by cable and a couple cellphones getting WiFi from it. Nothing else, to access the router I visit 192.168.2.1.

Thanks a lot !!!!!

"Ethernet link up" usually mean that your modem is the problem. That line indicates that the Ethernet connection was cut between the router and the modem.

I will look into it, not sure what can I do since I never tried to configure anything in the modem. Maybe ask for a replacement? or could it be just a configuration problem?

EDIT: It's a netgear CG3100D, I can access the configuration panel of the moden via 192.168.100.1

Thanks a lot RMerlin :=)

First thing is just to try replacing the modem-router cable....good quality cat5e or cat6.

It's not a configuration issue. Most likely causes:

- Problem with the Ethernet cable between modem and router (replace it as suggested by John)
- Problem with the modem - would require replacing the modem
- Problem with the ISP - some cablemodems will reboot themselves if there is a signal issue with upstream, generating such an Ethernet link disconnect message
