New Around Here
Hi,

I'm having a lot of trouble with the 2.4Ghz band using the RTAC87U.

The 2.4G network simply isn't working, it doesn't show up on any devices (including Android phones/tablet, Windows PC, Roku, WiFi Radio) Occasionally it will appear for just a few seconds but disappears again before anything can connect.

I've tried various things including a factory reset, and switching from Merlin to ASUS official firmware, but it did not solve the problem.

2.4G worked for a few hours after turning b/g protection off, but then suddenly disappeared again.

I use 5Ghz for most devices but 2.4G is sometimes better due to the 5G/Quantenna issues in this router.

Here are my current settings, any help/suggestions would be welcome.

Could try setting your Preamble to Short. When you setup your router from factory defaults did you manually configure? What version is the wireless driver and Quantenna firmware?

Mine are:
Code:
Driver version wl0: May 27 2016 10:16:35 version 6.37.14.126 (r561982)
Quantenna Firmware 37.4.0.56

Thanks for the replies, I was able to solve the problem by putting the router in to rescue mode and reloading the latest version of the Merlin firmware (380.64). So far everything seems to be working correctly. If the problem occurs again i'll try changing the preamble and disabling TuboQAM before resorting to rescue mode.
