Started using OpenDNS a few weeks and it's working fine. Trying to figure out the safest/best way to keep OpenDNS updated with my current IP address. I started out using the "dynamic IP updater client" running on my desktop which again worked fine but I wanted to use something in case my desktop went down. So I enable DDNS on my RT-AC86U running Merlin 384.4_2. I am using the DNS-O-Matic service in DDNS and got that working. But since I can't enable the "Let's Encyrpt" cert because dns-o-matic is not an actual ddns service, I'm wondering how safe that setup is? Is it safer to use the desktop tool or have DDNS enabled without SSL.
I don't use DDNS for any other reason or service. I guess my preference would be to keep using the DDNS/dns-o-matic setup if it's not a security concern.
Thanks!
